The International School Utrecht is an International Baccalaureate World School and part of SPO Utrecht (primary) and Nuovo Scholen (secondary). ISUtrecht offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum for students from 4-19 from diverse international backgrounds. We are a close knit, inclusive, and welcoming community of students, staff, and parents. ISUtrecht is a member of the Dutch International schools (DIS), a group of over twenty schools providing internationally-oriented primary and/or secondary education.

Vacancy

The International School Utrecht is looking to recruit an enthusiastic professional for a full-time position as an EAL/ELA Teacher for the primary section. Candidates with International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme experience will be taken into consideration first.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A recognised EAL teaching qualification (A degree in English Language or a bachelors plus a PGCE, CELTA, TEFL or similar- DUO approved)
  • Experience teaching EAL in the IB PYP is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of second language acquisition and multilingualism theory and practice
  • A minimum of two years’ EAL/ELA experience in an international setting
  • Knowledge of how a variety of languages work
  • Team-teaching in-class experience

The ideal candidate should have the following attributes:

  • Appropriate technology skills to support delivery of second language acquisition
  • Willingness to work closely and collaboratively with classroom teachers.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language.
  • Professionalism, commitment, integrity, and perseverance.
  • Cultural competece with an internationally minded attitude.
  • An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to design and develop language and multilingualism-rich environments and programmes and build on students learning, development and interactions.
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and parents effectively.
